April was a focused "shop session," with dedicated creative work time and process sharing guided by Window Seat hosts. Of the 6 fundamental questions, we narrowed in on #4: What if things were different?

  1. EVIDENCE - What do you know and how do you know it?
  2. PERSPECTIVE – Whose viewpoint is being presented or represented?
  3. CONNECTIONS – How does this connect to anything else?
  4. SUPPOSITION – What if things were different?
  5. RELEVANCE – Why is this important?
  6. TRANSITION – What’s next?

As in, what if you had to draw with your non-dominant hand? What if you were using a different art form? What if your collaborators had different input? What if crucial circumstances changed your project? What then?

We began our salon time with a quick improv game, "What Are You Doing," to get to know one another. This game also requires participants to think quickly on their feet about changing their own and other circumstances.

We briefly shared what is inspiring us to create right now and our aspirations for participating in the salon. We paired off to discuss our projects with a partner grounded in question #4. We then worked solo or in small groups and came back together to check in at the end.
