Dear Friends,
Last month we said goodbye to Cristian Salazar and Kahlo Flores (pictured above) who have finished their terms on our Board. Both Kahlo and Cristian brought a deep dedication to service and a belief in the transformative potential of personal storytelling in our sector. We will miss them dearly and look forward to the new ways we will collaborate into the future. Thank you Cristian and Kahlo for saying yes to Window Seat and being a part of our story!
This October the Oral History Association will host its annual conference in Portland, Oregon. I'm very excited to team up with Evergreen faculty and Window Seat Board member, Sonja Wiedenhaupt, to offer a hands-on session, “Oral History as Classroom Text: Build Your Skills in Making Classroom-Community Connections through Community Archives”, that reflects on what we've learned from our collaboration these past few years. Sonja and I will also offer a similar workshop through Evergreen's Summer Institute in August.
We've been busy getting ready for the Pride Storytelling Project's culminating event at the Capitol Theater on June 7th! We hope you will join us to celebrate this history and our cohort as they share their learning from the past few years. Tickets are on sale now! More details below.
We hope you too are finding joy and inspiration in the community this Spring!
Until soon,
Elaine Vradenburgh,
Memory Activist
