There is power in how and where you spend your money. At Window Seat, our annual budget reflects our values of equity and community. Our access-for-all arts and humanities programming only happens with robust community investment to offset program costs. As you plan your year-end gifts, know that donating to Window Seat Media is an investment in a world with more complete and complex public narratives and where community members have a greater capacity to tell their own stories.
Our offerings create opportunities for stories of collective action, cooperation, and community resilience. We need these stories! They nourish, unite, and inspire in times of weariness and overwhelm. Whether through Community Roots Oral History Project, Stories of Food, Food as Story Oral History Project, Brave Practice Playback Theatre Collective, or our new program Creativity Salons beginning in 2024, we offer tools for communities to engage with their own stories. We are constantly astounded after we host an event, how the room feels less divided and distracted, more connected, and full of possibility.
Oral traditions are as old as time. While our local oral history and storytelling work is unique in this region, creating spaces of community connection is nothing new.
