Highlights from the Field: we work with communities and groups to amplify voices
WE COMMUNICATE
|
Partner: Community Farm Land Trust
We've partnered with the South of the Sound Community Farm Land Trust since 2014 to share stories of the importance of maintaining working farms in the South Sound. We have produced three videos for the organization, which they have used to raise critical funds for their work and to educate farmers about the tools they offer to support both the economic and environmental viability of their farms. Stories to Amplify Folk + Traditional ArtsPartner: Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission
In the summer of 2016, we partnered with Washington State Parks to capture stories of folk and traditional artists who perform for park-goers as part of State Parks Folk and Traditional Arts in the Parks program. The program uses the video as a tool to maintain crucial funding so they can continue to amplify and share the experiences and expressions of underrepresented groups in Washington State. Stories of Conflict and ConnectionPartner: Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County
For International Conflict Resolution Month in October 2015, Window Seat Media partnered with the DRC and KAOS 89.9 FM to produce Stories of Conflict and Connection. Each week KAOS aired a conversation between two DRC mediators about the transformative potential of conflict – to foster human connection and understanding. In the second story to air in a four part series, Carly and Vicki share their journey to find their voice in conflict. |

The Power of Story in Marketing and Communications
Partner: Washington Conservation Commission
In this 2 hour workshop Washington State Conservation District staff learned how to gather and share landowner stories to engage and inspire their audiences in exciting ways. We viewed powerful examples, discussed how to use story alongside facts and numbers for the best results, and learned some tools and tips to collect and present stories from their own Districts. The Art and Practice of Oral HistoryPartner: The Evergreen State College
Window Seat Media Curator, Elaine Vradenburgh, partnered with TEDxOlympia Producer, Meg O'Leary, to provide theoretical and practical training in oral history interviewing to Evergreen State College students conducting their first oral history project. This partnership and project led to producing Voices from the Harbor during the 2016-17 academic year. Storytelling to Engage and InspirePartner: Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County
In this 3 hour workshop volunteer fundraisers for the Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County learned the basic principals of effective storytelling and crafted and practiced their own engagement story as a way to inspire others to get involved. |
